Now, Facebook place pages now have the facility for user to give star rating to businesses and location directly and from pages on Facebook.com even they are not in their location. Actually, it is a test for Facebook users.
In previous system, user has facility to rate places from its local search section of the mobile app and it happened only if they have checked into the location or previously tagged it. Facebook also have desktop sidebar for randomly prompt users to rate places they have. There is no other way to rate any place for users until they wanted that few weeks past.
This gives user to go back and rate the places that they may not check previously on Facebook, but it opens the door of rating manipulation. For example, a business can ask friends or increase fans to give him five star ratings. In coming time it becomes a problem at one point with app rating. Facebook removes app review and rating concepts when manipulation will no longer useful for them. But in later time it broke it back with no more keep them legitimate like random sampling.
According to Facebook it is said that, it will continue to track traffic loads on place ratings to locate ways to improve them by time passes. This facility gives user to find an easy way to change their rating. In older days, the only ways to find to change place rating was to through activity log, but it could be difficult to find rating among the entire user. To change the rate is not possible from mobile app.
It is also noticed that unadministrated pages now contain a way for user to rate and refer place. An unadministrated place includes cities, public parks or any public parks or local businesses that have not claim its pages on Facebook.
Facebook has recommended this feature since 2011, it has recently been began to emphasize a ways from user to like and share different pages and also

The motive behind this is to create or built Facebook potential as local search and entertainment discovery platform, and has to motivate business and organizations that will manage its presence in its place. User generated reviews and rating gives owner little bit less control what is displayed on page and the sentiments that will be displayed. The will also influence the Graph search and News feed distribution that will introduce other factor for marketing, considering and optimizing also.
